Knowledge vs Wisdom

The way I look at wisdom and knowledge is wisdom is more of the what we get through experiencing something. Knowledge is more of what we get by learning something through a text or simply being taught by someone else. I feel like in college we get both sides of this because college is very open as in you get to make yuour own choices. There are many activites in college and many different things you can be a part of. things such as being in a fraternity helps you get more wisdom in the process. When you get this wisodm you will be able to apply it later in life. You get knowledge in class when you are learning from a teacher. We all go to class everyday and learn things we don' always have interest in but in the end we get a new kind of knowledge into our brains. Therefore I feel like we get both knowledge and wisdom in college because there are many things we learn and many activities we become a part of.

  1. I agree, knowledge and wisdom are important to our lives and we need them to be able to make decisions. In college we do lean both, you made me realize that we do gain wisdom and not just knowledge because we are having experiences that will help us make decisions later in life. There are many opportunities especially at San Jose State to gain knowledge and wisdom outside the classroom, we have a lot of clubs, sports and activities that will help us get experience with decision making later in life as well as in the present.

  2. I completely agree with you about the differences between wisdom and knowledge. Like you, I think that wisdom is something we gain through life experiences. Knowledge is something learned from books. I also agree with you that college students have the opportunity to gain wisdom as well as knowledge in college, at least that is the hope. As we go through college and attend our different classes we acquire knowledge from our textbooks and our instructors. Wisdom is something we gain from our experiences with other people through the paths we lead. I think that is important to gain both knowledge and wisdom.

  3. Hi, I completely agree with your post and in mine I only put that we gain knowledge in college, but I was only thinking of what we learn while in the classroom so your post definitely pointed out how wisdom is gained as well. Both are extremely important in shaping who we become. Like you said, we’re not always interested in what we’re learning but we never know when we are able to apply some of the knowledge we gain once in the ‘real world’. I feel like knowledge is more of what you're told, and wisdom is more of actually living through experiences and while in college I believe I have gained a little of both =)
